Book of Ra at VegasNow: three editions, one Book
Our pokies lobby carries three Novomatic games built around the same Egyptian Book: the original, the deluxe edition and Book Of Ra Magic. They look alike but do not share every rule, so this page pulls them apart, shows what Novomatic puts on record for each, and runs fresh numbers on ten-line stakes, the A$8 cap and 40x wagering.

Book of Ra at VegasNow: the three editions side by side
Begin with what the studio itself stands behind. Novomatic gives a reel layout and a volatility score for two of the editions, describes a free-games round for Magic and explains the Book symbol for the original. For none of the three does it publish an RTP or a top win, so those rows stay empty of numbers rather than borrowing one from a source nobody can check.
| What Novomatic publishes | Original Book of Ra | Deluxe | Magic |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reel layout | No figure given | Five reels | Five reels |
| Lines | No figure given | Ten | Ten |
| Volatility score (studio scale) | No figure given | 5 | 5 |
| Described feature | Book doubles as wild and scatter | Read the in-game rules | Ten free games; as many as nine special symbols, picked at random, can expand |
| RTP | Not published for any edition | ||
| Top win | Not published for any edition | ||
A figure missing here may still appear in the game's own information panel, opened from inside the game after it loads. That panel is the rulebook for whichever edition is on screen. Anything quoted on an outside list should be treated as unverified, and nothing should be carried from one edition to another; our pokies overview explains why near-identical names can hide different maths.
Finding each edition in the VegasNow lobby
Search is quickest. Enter "Book of Ra" and all three editions surface together; enter "Novomatic", or tick it in the provider filter, and the studio's whole shelf appears so you can see the editions next to its other titles. On 3 November 2026 our catalogue listed Book Of Ra Magic by name, the lobby artwork that day showed Book of Ra deluxe, and the original sits under its plain title.
- Trust the loading screen over the tile. On a phone the three thumbnails are close to identical; the title shown while the game loads is the one whose rules govern your spins.
- Pin your preferred edition. Saved games returns you to the same version every visit, with no fresh search and no tap on the neighbouring tile.
- Allow for catalogue changes. What an account can open varies by region and over time; if the search comes back empty, ask support which titles yours can load.
How the Book and the ten lines decide a spin
The Book: one symbol, two jobs
For the original edition, Novomatic gives the Book a double role. Acting as a wild, it fills in for a missing symbol so a line can complete. Acting as a scatter, it is counted wherever it falls, on a line or off one. So a single Book can help a line and add to a scatter tally in the same spin, and that is the reason every eye is on it. Deluxe and Magic each have a rules screen; read how the Book is handled there before assuming it copies the original.
Ten lines and what a spin really costs
Deluxe and Magic each use five reels and ten lines, and a line pays when matching symbols run along one of them. For your balance, and for our bonus rules, the only stake that counts is the spin total: per-line amount times ten. Some screens show one figure and some the other, so multiply once before you start rather than mid-session.
| Per-line setting | Cost of one spin (x10) | Against the A$8 bonus cap |
|---|---|---|
| A$0.15 | A$1.50 | Comfortably inside |
| A$0.30 | A$3 | Comfortably inside |
| A$0.65 | A$6.50 | Inside, A$1.50 to spare |
| A$0.80 | A$8 | Right on it |
| A$0.85 | A$8.50 | Over by 50 cents |
| A$1.20 | A$12 | Over by A$4 |
These values only illustrate the multiplication; the real steps on your stake selector are set inside the game. Notice the bottom two rows. A per-line figure that looks tiny can still take the spin past A$8 without a large number ever appearing on screen.
Volatility 5, and the numbers Novomatic leaves out
Deluxe and Magic each carry a volatility score of 5, on a scale Novomatic defines for its own games. The score describes how returns are distributed, whether they tend to arrive as many modest wins or as fewer heavy ones. Timing is outside its scope entirely, and a Novomatic 5 cannot be lined up against another studio's label as if both were measured with one ruler.
Two figures people often want are missing from the published material: the RTP and the top win, for all three editions. Even where a studio does publish an RTP, it describes an average over an extremely long run of spins and forecasts nothing about one evening. With no figure on record, we quote none. Should either number shape your choice, open the information panel in the game and read it there, for that edition, on the day.
- The score is Novomatic's own rating, not a promise of big wins or of calm sessions.
- A long wait for a Book is already inside what the rating allows; it is no hint of a feature coming.
Book Of Ra Magic: ten free games and the expanding symbols
Of the three, only Magic has a feature Novomatic spells out: ten free games, during which up to nine special symbols, chosen at random, can expand. An expanding symbol grows until it covers every position on its reel, so it can complete lines from places a single symbol never could. The count of special symbols is random each time, capped at nine.
A short list
Suppose two special symbols are picked. Only that pair can grow during the ten games; every other symbol pays as it normally would.
A long list
With seven or more picked, far more of what lands is able to fill a reel, which is the strongest form of the round as Novomatic describes it.
The missing number
The studio sets out how the round is built, not its average payout, so neither case tells you what a given round is worth.
Reel free games and account free spins are different things
Magic's free games start on the reels and are settled by the game's own rules. The spins in our welcome package are an account award instead: they unlock once the qualifying deposit has been staked once over, their winnings need 40x wagering and they cannot pay out more than A$300. A free-games round that seemed to go wrong is explained by the game's rules and history. Welcome spins that never arrived are a job for support; send the offer name and deposit reference, as the free spins page describes.
Clearing the VegasNow welcome bonus on Book of Ra
Under the general bonus terms, version of 26 February 2024, a dollar staked on a slot counts as a full dollar of wagering unless that title is named as an exception, so check the list once for the edition you mean to use. Table games count for less: a quarter for roulette, a tenth for blackjack and game shows, nothing at all for baccarat. That gap is why pokies are where most players work a requirement down.
Four deposits make up the package, with a combined ceiling of A$8,000 and 500 free spins. The opening deposit is matched at 150% to a maximum of A$1,500 with 200 spins and needs no code; VEGAS2 then gives 100% to A$2,000 with 50 spins, VEGAS3 gives 50% to A$2,000 with another 50, and VEGAS4 gives 25% to A$2,500 with 200 more. Each stage needs A$20 or the payment method's higher floor, which is A$30 for card and MiFinity. Bonus money and spin winnings both carry 40x inside 7 days; a deposit bonus cannot turn into more than A$5,000 per offer, welcome-spin winnings stop at A$300, and sportsbook bets sit outside the package. Every condition is listed on our welcome bonus page.
Worked example: A$110 first deposit on deluxe
Deposit A$110 and the 150% match adds A$165. Forty lots of A$165 is A$6,600 of qualifying stakes, owed within seven days. Every dollar counts in full, so the per-line setting alone fixes the number of paid spins:
| Per line | Per spin | Spins for A$6,600 | Per day across 7 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| A$0.20 | A$2 | 3,300 | About 471 |
| A$0.40 | A$4 | 1,650 | About 236 |
| A$0.60 | A$6 | 1,100 | About 157 |
| A$0.80 | A$8 (the cap) | 825 | About 118 |
Magic's free games are not paid for, so the counter ignores them. Quite apart from the bonus, our terms want the A$110 deposit staked three times over, A$330, before that money can be withdrawn. If 825 spins at the cap, or 3,300 at A$2, will not fit your week, the general terms allow you to turn the bonus down.
Stages two to four at other deposit sizes
| Stage and deposit | Bonus | Wagering at 40x | Spins at A$4 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2nd, A$220 with VEGAS2 | A$220 | A$8,800 | 2,200 |
| 3rd, A$320 with VEGAS3 | A$160 | A$6,400 | 1,600 |
| 4th, A$700 with VEGAS4 | A$175 | A$7,000 | 1,750 |
Your account holds one bonus at once, so each stage waits until the earlier one is cleared, lapses or is turned down. Tuesday's reload works the same way. Lucky 7s Load Up is a 77% match capped at A$77, so an A$65 deposit earns A$50.05 and that needs A$2,002 of play, which is 1,001 spins at A$2. The rest of the week is on our weekly promotions page.
Stake planning on a ten-line game under the A$8 cap
As long as a bonus sits on your VegasNow account, no single spin may cost more than A$8, and on Book of Ra that is A$8 for all ten lines together, not per line. The rule covers welcome stages, reloads and bonuses exchanged in the Loyalty Store, and it runs for the whole life of the bonus. Nothing in the game blocks a bigger bet, so the limit is yours to keep; going above it breaches the bonus terms.
Plans built on the balance you hold tend to outlast plans built on the wagering target. Here is a A$55 balance, no bonus running, and how many spins it buys at each setting if nothing at all comes back:
| Per line | Per spin | Spins from A$55, no wins |
|---|---|---|
| A$0.05 | A$0.50 | 110 |
| A$0.10 | A$1 | 55 |
| A$0.25 | A$2.50 | 22 |
| A$0.55 | A$5.50 | 10 |
Wins stretch that run and dry spells shorten it, and a 5 on Novomatic's scale allows for wide swings either way. Three habits keep the numbers honest:
- Recheck the spin total after changing edition, after any free games and after reopening the game on a new device.
- Pick one per-line amount per session and stick to it; chasing a losing run with a bigger stake changes the size of the next result, never its odds.
- Deposit-bonus winnings stop at A$5,000 per offer, so stretching your stake while a bonus is live cannot raise what you get to keep.
Common Book of Ra mistakes on a VegasNow account
- Taking the per-line figure for the total. A$0.85 a line is A$8.50 a spin, over the bonus cap.
- Merging the editions. A volatility score or feature write-up belongs only to the edition it was written for.
- Believing a listed RTP. Novomatic has published none for these three, so a quoted figure has nothing behind it.
- Counting free games as progress. Unpaid rounds leave the wagering counter exactly where it was.
- Exchanging points mid-bonus. A Loyalty Store bonus only queues behind the active one, so swap points after the current bonus is done or declined.
- Waiting for the Book to be due. A long gap means nothing; the reels keep no memory of it.
VegasNow loyalty points from Book of Ra spins
Real-money spins on any edition earn at the slot rate: every A$25 staked adds one point to your redeemable balance and one to your status total. Roulette needs A$100 for a point and blackjack or baccarat A$250, so slots earn four and ten times faster. Because points track turnover, a session that wins and one that loses earn the same if the stakes match.
Worked example at A$2.50 per spin
Set A$0.25 a line and every ten spins cost A$25, which is one point of each kind. A 440-spin session is A$1,100 of real-money play and 44 points. The smallest Loyalty Store exchange, 200 points, takes A$5,000 of slot stakes, or 2,000 spins at this setting, and buys A$5 of bonus funds at Golden Glimmer rates. That A$5 needs 40x, so A$200 of qualifying play, before the money is yours to cash out.
| Published level or exchange row | Points | Slot stakes at A$25 per point |
|---|---|---|
| Golden Glimmer II threshold | 600 status points | A$15,000 |
| Golden Glimmer III threshold | 2,000 status points | A$50,000 |
| Gondola Grand I threshold | 500,000 status points | A$12,500,000 |
| Golden Glimmer exchange | 200 points for A$5 | A$5,000 |
| Golden Glimmer, saved up | 2,000 points for A$60 | A$50,000 |
| Parisian Palace Las Vegas exchange | 750 points for A$20 | A$18,750 |
| Bella Vista exchange | 100,000 points for A$5,000 | A$2,500,000 |
The last column is turnover, not loss; what is left in your balance depends on results, never on points. There are seven levels named after Las Vegas venues, starting from Golden Glimmer I, and the Sin City VIP Lounge sits above them by invitation. The full published ladder is on our VIP page.
Playing Book of Ra on a phone
VegasNow lives in your mobile browser. We have no listing on the App Store or Google Play and supply no APK, so a download wearing our name deserves suspicion. For one-tap access, iPhone users can pick Add to Home Screen from Safari's Share sheet, and Android users can use Install, or a shortcut option, from Chrome's More menu. Our mobile page sets out each route in order.
On a small screen the stake control shrinks, which makes it easier to confuse the per-line amount with the spin total, so confirm the total before the first paid spin. If the game reloads after you switch apps, check the edition name and stake again; the A$8 limit is measured the same way on every device.
Your VegasNow checklist before the first Book of Ra spin
Name the edition
Read the title on the loading screen, then open the information panel for that version's rules, including anything absent from Novomatic's public material.
Work out the spin total
Per-line amount times ten. With a bonus running, the answer has to be A$8 or less, so A$0.80 a line is the ceiling.
Check the bonus clock
Note what is left of the 40x requirement, how many of the seven days remain and whether the edition is on the exceptions list.
Limits before spins
Add a deposit limit in your account settings ahead of play, and choose the point where the session stops, whichever way it is going.
Responsible play on VegasNow pokies
Book of Ra, in any of its versions, runs on chance. A Book that has stayed away for a long time is not owed to you, and raising the stake will not repair earlier losses. Deposit limits and self-exclusion are built into your VegasNow account, and they do the most good when set before a session rather than after a rough one. If play has stopped being fun, ring Gambling Help Online on 1800 858 858; the service is free, confidential and open around the clock. Each account tool is explained on our responsible gambling page.
Just Entertainment B.V. (Curaçao company 160603) holds licence OGL/2024/164/0246 from the Curaçao Gaming Authority and runs VegasNow under it; the licence certificate lists the approved domains. You must be 18 or older to hold an account.
Book of Ra at VegasNow: questions and answers
Are the three Book of Ra games really different?
Yes, they are separate Novomatic titles. The original is described with a Book that doubles as wild and scatter. Deluxe has five reels, ten lines and a volatility score of 5. Magic shares that layout and score, then adds ten free games in which up to nine randomly chosen special symbols can expand.
What RTP does Book of Ra pay?
Not published. Novomatic has not published an RTP for any of the three editions, so we do not quote one. Open the information panel inside the game to see what it shows on the day you play.
What is the biggest possible win on Book of Ra?
Not published, for any edition. Look in the game's information panel; a figure from an outside list has no studio source behind it.
How much can I bet per line with a bonus active?
A$0.80 a line on a ten-line edition, because the A$8 cap applies to the whole spin. A$0.85 a line makes the spin A$8.50, which breaches the bonus terms.
Do Magic's free games count toward my wagering?
No. You do not pay for them, so they leave the wagering counter untouched; only paid spins reduce it. Anything they win is settled by the game's own rules.
How many spins does the bonus on an A$110 first deposit need?
The A$165 bonus needs A$6,600 of wagering at 40x. That is 825 spins at the A$8 cap, 1,650 at A$4 or 3,300 at A$2, all inside seven days.
How fast does Book of Ra earn loyalty points?
At the slot rate, so a point for your redeemable balance and a point toward status for every A$25 of real-money spins. A$1,100 of play earns 44, and the first Loyalty Store exchange needs 200.
Can I play Book of Ra on an iPhone or Android phone?
Yes, through the phone's browser. We do not offer a native app or an APK. Saving VegasNow to your Home Screen gives you an icon that opens straight into the lobby.
